Economic Development
My aim is to provide access to a 21st century workforce that can earn enough income to pay our bills, provide us with a cushion for hard times or a healthcare emergency.
My top economic priorities are ensuring that the residents of the 56th Assembly District have equal opportunity to achieve economic success, sustainability, and financial security. This includes supporting policies that create jobs that support our economy and provide workers with a 21st century living wage.
I support investing in our infrastructure to create new jobs; create more business incentives to foster economic growth that helps workers and small businesses to get ahead; restore worker bargaining power to encourage industry-wide collective bargaining; promote profit-sharing plans that will enable workers to share in the benefits of productivity growth as well as funding for worker cooperatives. Our government should provide a baseline set of employment standards for all working Americans.
We need to create more opportunities for youth entrepreneurship and support small businesses with the vast resources of the Empire State and not be burdened with policies and violations that prevent them from hiring people locally and reinvesting in our community.
Additionally, the New York State Assembly Banking Committee must ensure that our banks, all nine, are all meeting their CRA (Community Reinvestment Act) requirements by including providing loans for home ownership, home renovation, small business and community development.
