Active Aging Week

For ten years, Age Friendly Central Brooklyn, Inc. (AFCBI) has been promoting healthy aging in Bedford Stuyvesant, Crown Heights and now Central Brooklyn by offering fun, innovative programs and activities designed to keep older adults moving.

As a supporter since 2014, I was please to sponsor this year's Active Aging Week in collaboration with the International Council on Aging,  NYAM (New York Academy of Medicine), and the Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Partnership (MABP). The depth and the breath of the senior-led movement is inspiring to people of all ages and is a testament to the physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, social, environmental, and vocational health of our older adults.

Highlights from the week-long event featured Kickoff at Restoration Plaza, Karaoke, Game Night, Wine Tasting, and a Health Equity Forum. This was further enhanced by a Fashion Show with designer Courtney Washignton and very informative, hands-on digital literacy workshops at Macon Branch Library.
